The non-contact UTV level measurement by philippi is an ultrasonic tank sensor and measures the liquid level via ultrasound.

The UTV measures the level via ultrasound and provides an analog output signal of 0.5–2.5 V, which can be connected to philippi tank monitors such as the TCS, VTM, BTM 2, and PSM3. Since the measurement only functions reliably in a horizontal position, installing a UFT sound guiding tube significantly improves measurement accuracy during heeling and wave motion, while also protecting against dirt and foam on the liquid surface.
For fuel and water tanks, philippi recommends other tank sensors, as ultrasonic measurement does not provide reliable results during heeling, sea state, or when the tank is completely full within the 2.5 cm upper dead zone. For this area, the UTS 25 spacer ring is available, which raises the sensor by exactly these 2.5 cm.
