Custom builds: switch panels and on-board systems made to measure
A philippi custom build is a switch panel, distribution or complete system that we build to your specifications in our own factory in Remseck, Germany – as a one-off for your boat or vehicle. Since 1978 we have been building on-board electrics for 12, 24 and 48 V systems and for the 230 V side, from a simple switch panel to a complete energy management system.
What we build to measure
- DC switch panels with free configuration: number of circuits, ampere rating per circuit, dimensions, labelling in your language, single- or double-pole
- Integrated displays and sockets: battery, tank and P-BUS monitors, DC and USB charging sockets directly in the panel
- Engine panels and outdoor switch panels for helm, cockpit and flybridge
- 230 V switch cabinets with shore power, residual current protection and source changeover
- Digital switching systems with touch operation for larger yachts
How your system is created
- Enquiry: tell us what the system should do – photos of the existing installation are welcome.
- Coordination: we clarify circuits, fusing, displays and installation dimensions with you.
- Approval: you receive the design for approval, with a drawing on request.
- Manufacturing and testing: we build and test the system in our factory.
- Delivery: ready to install and labelled.
If the whole on-board system is to be redesigned, the project starts with electrical system planning. For shipyards and converters with recurring demand there is production in small and medium series, and for Bavaria yachts ready-made refit panels.
Frequently asked questions about custom builds
What information do you need for a quote?
Most important are the system voltage, a list of circuits with the connected loads and their current, the displays and sockets you want, and the available installation space with cut-out dimensions. Photos of the existing system also help. If anything is missing, we clarify it in a conversation – a finished plan is not required for the enquiry.
Can you replace my existing switch panel?
Yes. We build a new panel matching the dimensions and configuration of your old one so that it fits the existing cut-out – with additional circuits, displays or sockets on request. For common production yachts such as Bavaria there are ready-made 1:1 replacement panels that fit without modification.
Do you only plan with philippi components?
No. We build our switch panels and distribution ourselves; all other components are selected brand-independently according to your needs – and we also integrate devices that are already on board. What matters is that everything fits together.
