philippi Series 700 circuit distributors are waterproof DC switch panels for outdoor use on motor boats, sailing yachts and ships. They allow protection directly at the switch even outdoors, so no additional wiring to separate fuses inside the boat is needed. The panels are waterproof from the operating side.
In brief: Until now, waterproof outdoor switches had to be protected by separate fuses mounted inside. The STV Series 700 combines switching and protection in one waterproof unit directly in the outdoor area.
What is the STV Series 700?
The STV Series 700 is a waterproof DC switch panel (IP 66) for 12 V and 24 V systems. It uses waterproof E-T-A 3131 rocker circuit breakers with integrated function indication and switchable LED night illumination: when a circuit is on, its symbol lights up. In the event of a fault, the circuit breaker trips thermally, the rocker springs to the off position and the LED goes out. Once the fault is fixed, the circuit is reactivated by switching it on again – no fuse change and no tools.
The symbols are laser-engraved into the rockers and remain legible even after years of UV and salt water exposure.

Frequently asked questions about the STV Series 700
What does IP 66 mean for the Series 700?
IP 66 means complete protection against dust and against powerful water jets from any direction. For the Series 700 this applies to the operating side, i.e. the front with rockers and symbols. This makes it suitable for cockpit, outdoor helm and flybridge; the rear belongs in a dry area behind the mounting surface.
Why are the rockers supplied separately?
The rockers are ordered separately so that every circuit carries the right symbol, for example anchor, light, bilge pump, VHF or navigation lights. The symbols are laser-engraved and stay legible permanently. The result is a panel that fits your boat exactly, instead of a standard set with missing or superfluous symbols.
Which ratings are the circuit breakers available in?
10 A is standard; on request and at no extra charge, the circuit breakers are also available with 6 A, 16 A and 20 A. For special tasks there are also 10 A push buttons and changeover switches and push buttons with a centre position. The rating depends on the cross-section of the cable the respective circuit supplies.
Can the Series 700 be combined with the Series 200?
Not as a single panel, because the two series use different circuit breakers and housings. In one installation, however, they complement each other well: the Series 200 as the main switch panel inside, the Series 700 for the loads switched in the cockpit or at the outdoor helm. Both panels are supplied from the central distribution.
Do I still need fuses inside with the Series 700?
Not for the individual load circuits: the thermal circuit breakers protect each circuit directly at the outdoor switch. The feed cable that supplies the Series 700 from the battery or main distribution, however, needs its own fuse at its start, i.e. at the source, like any cable. It is rated according to the cross-section of this feed cable.
Is the Series 700 suitable for permanent use around salt water?
Yes. The front is waterproof to IP 66, and the symbols are laser-engraved into the rockers so they remain legible even after years of UV and salt water. As with any outdoor installation, the gasket and fixings should be checked during annual maintenance.
