Bavaria Refit Panels

Bavaria Refit Panels – Retrofitting & Modernizing Bavaria Sailing Yacht Switch Panels

Bavaria Refit Panels are vehicle-specific replacement switch panels for the electrical modernization of Bavaria sailing yachts. As a direct 1:1 replacement for the factory-installed Bavaria switch panels, they enable a complete modernization of the onboard electrical system without new wiring, without complex modifications, and with the aesthetics fully preserved.

Briefly explained: Bavaria Refit Panels replace the original Bavaria switch panel via plug-and-play – including a pre-assembled wiring harness, suitable connectors, and four additional freely assignable circuits.

What are Bavaria Refit Panels and for which yachts are they suitable?

Bavaria Refit Panels are upgrade kits specially developed for Bavaria sailing yachts for the direct replacement of the original onboard electrical switch panel. Each panel is precisely matched to the dimensions, connectors, and wiring harness of the respective Bavaria original panel – for a perfect fit without modifications to existing wiring.

They are suitable for Bavaria sailing yachts where the factory-installed switch panel is to be replaced by a modern, functionally enhanced unit – for example, due to outdated electronics, a defective original panel, or the desire for extended battery and tank monitoring with NMEA 2000 connectivity.

Installing Bavaria Refit Panel – how does the plug-and-play exchange work?

Installation follows the plug-and-play principle: The Bavaria Refit Panel is connected directly to the existing Bavaria wiring using the included pre-assembled wiring harness and suitable connectors. New cables do not need to be laid.

All existing switching functions are fully retained. In addition, four freely assignable circuits are available for new consumers or individual extensions. The aesthetics are fully preserved due to the custom-fit manufacturing.

Which components are part of the Bavaria Refit Panel System?

Component Function Optional
Bavaria Refit Panel Replacement switch panel, Plug-and-Play, 1:1 fit No
BTM2 (Battery & Tank Monitor) Tank and battery monitoring with NMEA 2000 No
SHE 348 (Battery Management Shunt) Precise monitoring of house & starter batteries Yes
FHR (Remote Switching Relay) Emergency shutdown, main switch function, additional consumers Yes

Continue using Bavaria Yacht tank sensors – does that work with the Refit Panels?

Yes. In conjunction with the BTM2 battery and tank monitor, the original tank sensors of the Bavaria sailing yacht for water and waste tanks can be reused without changes. No retrofitting of the sensors is required.

Tank levels are displayed directly on the panel and – with NMEA 2000 connectivity activated – additionally on compatible chart plotters and multifunction displays.

Battery monitoring with Bavaria Refit Panel – what data is collected?

With the optional SHE 348 battery management shunt, house and starter batteries are precisely monitored. The following values are displayed in real-time:

  • Voltage (V)
  • Current (A)
  • State of charge (%)
  • Remaining capacity (Ah)
  • Energy consumption (Wh)

The BTM2 transmits all battery data via NMEA 2000 directly to compatible chart plotters and multifunction displays – for a central overview of the entire onboard electrical system.

NMEA 2000 and Bavaria Refit Panel – what data is transmitted?

The BTM2 supports NMEA 2000 and transmits the following data to compatible plotters and displays:

  • Tank levels (water, waste, ...)
  • Battery voltages and states of charge
  • Current consumption and remaining capacity
  • Other system data of the onboard electrics

This means all relevant information is centrally available on a chart plotter – compatible with all common NMEA 2000-enabled devices, e.g., from Garmin, Raymarine, Simrad, or B&G.

Which control and switching functions does the Bavaria Refit Panel offer?

Additional switching tasks can be realized directly via the panel using the integrated relay function of the display. In conjunction with the optional FHR remote switching relay, the following functions can be conveniently controlled:

  • Emergency shutdown of individual consumers or the entire onboard electrical system
  • Main switch function – electrical, without a mechanical main switch
  • Additional consumers – freely assignable via the four additional circuits

Frequently Asked Questions about the Bavaria Refit Panel

Do I have to lay new cables for the installation? No. The Bavaria Refit Panel comes with a pre-assembled wiring harness that connects directly to the original Bavaria wiring. New wiring is not required.

For which Bavaria models and years of manufacture are Refit Panels available? Bavaria Refit Panels are available for various Bavaria sailing yacht models and years of manufacture. Which panel is suitable for your yacht depends on the model and year of manufacture – please contact us directly if you are unsure.

How many additional circuits does the Refit Panel offer? Four additional, freely assignable circuits are available for new consumers or individual functions.

Does replacing it change the appearance of the switch panel? No. Bavaria Refit Panels are manufactured as aesthetically compatible direct replacement switch panels and seamlessly integrate into the appearance of the Bavaria interior.

Can tank levels be displayed on the chart plotter? Yes, if BTM2 and NMEA 2000 are integrated. Tank levels, battery voltages, and system data are displayed directly on compatible plotters and multifunction displays.

Can I operate the Refit Panel without NMEA 2000? Yes. The system functions completely without NMEA 2000 connectivity. Battery and tank data are then displayed exclusively on the integrated BTM2 display on the panel itself.

What happens if the original panel is defective – is the Refit Panel a complete replacement? Yes. The Bavaria Refit Panel is designed as a complete 1:1 replacement. All original switching functions are taken over, and extended monitoring and switching functions are additionally available.
