Philippi Shore Power Connection – 230 V Shore Power Supply for Boats, Yachts & RVs
The shore power connection connects your boat or yacht in the harbor to the 230 V power grid of the pier, enabling battery charging, the operation of household appliances, and a comfortable 230 V supply on board – all without a generator or inverter. Philippi offers a complete, standard-compliant range for this: from waterproof shore power connectors to compact shore power units and automatic transfer switches for shore power, generator, and inverter.
Brief explanation: A standard-compliant shore power connection on board consists of three elements: the connector on the hull (flush-mounted plug), the connecting cable to the pier, and the shore power unit with an RCBO circuit breaker inside the vessel. All Philippi shore power units are manufactured in accordance with DIN VDE 0100/Part 721 (709) and ISO 13297 and contain VDE-tested and approved components.
Why a standard-compliant shore power connection is indispensable
For a safe and standard-compliant shore power connection on boats, the use of a two-pole circuit breaker and an RCD (residual current device) with a 30 mA tripping current is mandatory in Germany. Philippi uses combined RCBO circuit breakers in its shore power units, which combine both functions in a space-saving manner.
On boats with a 230 V on-board electrical system, according to DIN EN ISO 13297, a display device should be present that detects and signals a possible polarity reversal of the live conductor (phase) and neutral conductor (neutral wire) as well as an interruption of the protective conductor (PE) on the line between the pier shore power socket and the AC on-board electrical system.
The complete Philippi Shore Power Connection range
RS 692 – Compact Shore Power Connector (230 V / 16 A)
Particularly compact and waterproof 230 V/16 A shore power connector. Consisting of a flange-mounted socket with protective cap, angled housing, and shore power coupling with protective cap. 230 V / 50 Hz, max. 16 A, protection class IP 66. Approved by Germanischer Lloyd.
The RS 692 is the classic for compact on-board flush-mounted plugs on sailing yachts and motorboats – small, waterproof, and proven. Also available without angled housing (RS 692 Land GL) and with a stainless steel protective bracket as an accessory for protection against mechanical damage.
MP16-10 – Stainless Steel Flush-Mounted Inlet (230 V / 16 A / IP 67)
The new shore power connector, based on CEE connectors, has been specially designed for installation on the deck or stern of yachts. The compact, waterproof stainless steel housing of the flush-mounted plug (IP 67) integrates elegantly and discreetly into the deck. 230 V / 16 A.
The MP16-10 is the high-quality alternative to the RS 692 – with a stainless steel housing, IP67 protection, and a modern, flat design. Outer diameter 87 mm, installation hole Ø 52 mm.
Important: Conventional CEE coupling sockets cannot be used in conjunction with the MP16-10. The MP16-10 is combined with suitable PUR shore power cables with molded CEE plugs and LED coupling sockets.
Shore Power Cables – PUR Cables for Outdoor Use
For the connection between the pier socket and the on-board flush-mounted plug, Philippi offers weather-resistant PUR shore power cables (HO7BQ-F) – saltwater-resistant, flexible even in cold temperatures, and in a yellow signal color for safety on the pier. Suitable for RS-692 couplings and for the MP16-10.
CEE Flush-Mounted Inlet – Standard Shore Power Connection
For the use of conventional CEE pier sockets, Philippi offers CEE flush-mounted inlets (2+PE, 230 V / 16 A) in splash-proof design with a sliding cover, protection class IP X4 – the standard solution for larger boats and existing installations with the CEE system.
