Recreational craft are covered by the Recreational Craft Directive 2013/53/EU. It sets out essential requirements; the technical details are in harmonised standards such as ISO 13297 (DC and AC installations, merged into one standard since 2020 and successor to the withdrawn ISO 10133), whose application is voluntary but gives a presumption of conformity.
Important for conversions: a substantial modification can mean that the original declaration of conformity no longer holds. Anyone planning a major conversion should clarify this question in advance.
