A shunt is a measuring resistor in the battery's negative lead. It detects current, voltage, and capacity and transmits these values to a battery monitor.

The active shunt SHE is installed between the negative cable of the service battery(ies) and the common ground busbar, so that no further connections to the negative terminals of the consumer batteries are necessary. The SHX is installed directly in the negative cable of the battery and is galvanically isolated.

The SHE 348 communicates via LIN bus and is compatible with the BTM2, BLS, and BLM2 monitors. The SHX 348 communicates via P-bus, is galvanically isolated, and is compatible with the PSM and PSL monitors.

The SHP adds a second, independent current measurement to an existing monitor – for example, for a solar system or a second energy source, while the main shunt continues to monitor the battery.

Yes. According to the data sheet, the SHX 348 is also suitable for battery groups that are galvanically isolated from the rest of the on-board power supply.

For BTM2, BLS, and BLM2, you need an SHE shunt; for PSM and PSL, an SHX shunt. If you are unsure, our support team will be happy to assist you.
