Manual LAE 113: Connecting and Installing the Shore Power Unit

The LAE 113 shore power unit protects and monitors the 230 V shore power connection. Two AC indicator lights show that the connection to the shore-side AC supply is correct, and three outputs of 10 A each switch sockets, water heater and battery charger. The electrical connection is made via feed-through terminals on the underside of the housing. This page summarises safety, installation, connection and technical data from the installation manual.

Installation

Installation and commissioning must be carried out by an electrician or professional installer in accordance with the regulations currently in force (ISO10133). The shore power unit should be mounted in an easily accessible place that is easy to read and operate. The required mounting cut-out is 235 × 160 mm, the minimum depth 97 mm.

Electrical connection

Cable cross-section at least 2.5 mm² for the mains input and at least 1.5 mm² for outputs A, B and C. This manual contains no drawn wiring diagram; the terminal assignment is given as a table in the PDF manual and here.

Section Terminals Connection
Mains input, 230 V / 50 Hz (min. 2.5 mm²) 11 / 12 / PE L1 (phase), N (neutral), PE (protective earth) of the shore power
Output A "Sockets AC", 10 A (min. 1.5 mm²) 21 / 22 / PE L1, N, PE of further AC sockets
Output B "Hot Water AC", 10 A (min. 1.5 mm²) 31 / 32 / PE L1, N, PE of the water heater
Output C "Battery Charger", 10 A (min. 1.5 mm²) 41 / 42 / PE L1, N, PE of the battery charger

All outputs are protected by the residual current circuit breaker RCBo (30 mA).

Mains monitoring: meaning of the lights

The two mains indicator lights show whether the onboard AC system is electrically connected correctly to the shore-side AC supply.

Indication Meaning
Green light Everything connected correctly
Red light Phase (L) and neutral (N) are reversed (swapped)
Red and green light Protective earth PE not connected or not present

Technical data

Supply voltage 230 volts / 50 Hz AC
Protection RCBo 16 A, 30 mA (Swiss version CH: RCBo 13 A, 30 mA)
Outputs A, B and C Overcurrent circuit breaker 10 A; RCBO 30 mA
Mounting cut-out 235 × 160 mm, minimum depth 97 mm

Warranty, conformity, disposal

Warranty: two years from the date of purchase. Defects caused by faulty materials or workmanship are remedied free of charge if the unit is sent to the manufacturer carriage paid, the proof of purchase is enclosed, the unit has been handled and used as intended, and no third-party spare parts have been fitted and no unauthorised modifications made. Excluded are damage caused by overvoltage at the inputs or reversed-polarity connection, liquid that has entered the unit, oxidation due to condensation, and lightning. Consequential costs and natural wear are not covered. Claims require a detailed description of the defect; philippi cannot accept shipments sent carriage forward. More information: Warranty and repair.

Conformity: The unit meets the requirements of the EU directives 2004/108/EC (electromagnetic compatibility) and 2006/95/EC (electrical equipment designed for use within certain voltage limits). philippi will send a declaration of conformity on request.

Liability and disposal: philippi cannot monitor compliance with the operating instructions or the conditions of installation, operation and maintenance; no liability is accepted for damage resulting from incorrect installation or improper operation. For disposal, local regulations apply; use the collection points for waste electrical and electronic equipment.

Frequently asked questions

What do the indicator lights on the LAE 113 mean?

The two mains indicator lights show whether the onboard AC system is electrically connected correctly to the shore supply. Green means everything is connected correctly. Red means phase (L) and neutral (N) are swapped. If red and green light up together, the protective earth PE is not connected or not present.

What outputs does the LAE 113 have?

The mains input is on terminal 11 (L1), terminal 12 (N) and PE. Output A switches further sockets via "Sockets AC" (terminals 21, 22, PE), output B the water heater via "Hot Water AC" (31, 32, PE), and output C the battery charger via "Battery Charger" (41, 42, PE), each 10 A, all protected by an RCBo 30 mA.

What mounting cut-out does the LAE 113 need and where should it go?

The mounting cut-out is 235 × 160 mm with a minimum depth of 97 mm. Mount the unit in an easily accessible, dry, well-ventilated place where no moisture, liquid, salt or dust can get in. Installation and commissioning must be carried out by an electrician in accordance with the applicable regulations (ISO10133).

What warranty does the LAE 113 have?

The warranty runs for two years from the date of purchase. Defects caused by faulty materials or workmanship are remedied free of charge if the unit is sent in carriage paid, the proof of purchase is enclosed and it was used as intended, without third-party spare parts or modifications. Damage from overvoltage, reversed polarity, liquid, condensation and lightning is excluded.
