The Balmar Centerfielder II (CFII-12/24) solves a classic problem of twin-engine boats with two independent alternators and regulators: Without balancing, both regulators work against each other, repeatedly switching on and off – the so-called yo-yo effect. The CFII synchronizes both charging systems so that the starboard and port alternators charge a house battery bank together and in sync.
Advantages
- Reliably eliminates the yo-yo effect between two independent regulators
- Automatically designates one regulator as master (starboard) and the other as slave (port)
- Both alternators charge a common house battery bank evenly and in conjunction
- Reinforced regulator cables and fuses already included
- Expandable with the Digital Duo Charge for additional charging of a second battery
- Suitable for 12-volt and 24-volt systems
Technical Data & Compatibility
- Designation: CFII-12/24, for 12-volt and 24-volt electrical systems
- Can only be used in combination with Balmar Max-Charge regulators (MC-618 or MC-624)
- Not compatible with the ARS-5 regulator
- Includes reinforced regulator cables and fuses for twin-engine operation
- Can be combined with the Digital Duo Charge for charging an additional battery
When do I need a Centerfielder II?
As soon as your boat has two engines, each with its own alternator and Max-Charge regulator, and both are intended to charge the same house battery bank, the CFII is almost indispensable – without it, you risk irregular charging cycles and unnecessary wear on regulators and belts due to the yo-yo effect.
Area of Application
The Centerfielder II is exclusively aimed at owners of twin-engine boats who have already installed or wish to install two Max-Charge regulators (MC-618 or MC-624). For single-engine boats or in combination with the ARS-5, the device is not relevant or cannot be used.
With the Centerfielder II, ensure harmonious, low-wear interaction between your two alternators. For questions regarding the correct wiring in a twin-engine setup, the philippi team will be happy to assist you.
