12V-100A alternator for Volvo engines

The Balmar 6-Series 100-amp, 12-volt alternator is the ideal upgrade solution for Volvo Penta diesel engines whose original alternators reach their limits as onboard power consumption increases. Does this alternator fit my Volvo Penta engine?

The critical factor is the foot mounting of the currently installed alternator. This 621-100-XX version is designed for 1-2" single-foot/spindle mounting in the Delco style, as found on most Volvo Penta engines – in contrast to the dual-foot/saddle mounting of other engine brands. Before ordering, check the foot mount of your engine or, if in doubt, ask our support team.

Individually or as a Set?

The "individual" variant provides the alternator with its standard internal Smart-Ready regulator – sufficient for many motor yachts with regular engine run times and moderate consumption. The "set" additionally includes the external multi-stage ARS-5 regulator and two temperature sensors for the alternator and battery, which allow for automatic, temperature-dependent adjustment of the charging curve. Recommended for larger house batteries or if the engine – for example, when sailing – runs only irregularly.

Ideal for sailboats and motor yachts with Volvo Penta diesel engines that have expanded their battery capacity or whose onboard electrical system is more heavily loaded by refrigerators, instruments, and electronics.
