The BWD 504 battery selector switch from the Blue Sea Systems HD series selects between two isolated battery banks and additionally allows them to be connected in parallel (Combine) to all loads. With 500 A continuous current, it is designed for large engines and high-performance onboard electrical systems in which two battery banks are to be used flexibly.
Advantages
- 4 switch positions for selecting or combining two isolated battery banks
- High continuous current of 500 A for high-performance onboard electrical systems and large engines
- Tin-plated copper studs for maximum conductivity and corrosion protection
- Studs for 1/2" (M12) ring cable lugs for connecting large cable cross-sections
- Housing design allows both surface and rear panel mounting
Technical data & compatibility
- Switching function: Selector 4 Position – selects between two isolated battery banks or combines them to all loads
- Continuous current: 500 A
- Peak current: 1,600 A / 30 sec. (intermittent 5 min.: 700 A)
- Voltage: max. 32 V DC
- Mounting type: surface or rear panel mounting
- Connections: studs for 1/2" (M12) ring cable lugs, cables up to 4/0 AWG (120 mm²)
Which onboard electrical system is the BWD 504 suitable for?
The BWD 504 is the right choice for high-performance onboard electrical systems with two battery banks and high current demand, for example with large diesel engines where one bank is used as selected in normal operation and both banks are to be connected in parallel when required – for example for an emergency start.
This makes it suitable for larger yachts as well as high-performance off-road and expedition vehicles with two independent battery banks.
