Manual LAE 232: Installing and Connecting the Shore Power Unit
The LAE 232 shore power unit protects the on-board AC 230 V/50 Hz system with a 16 A RCBo (residual-current circuit breaker with overcurrent protection) and switches up to two load circuits via two double-pole thermal circuit breakers (10 A). An AC indicator light shows the connection to the shore-side mains. The connection is made via a terminal strip on the rear of the panel. This page summarises the connection, wiring diagram and technical data from the manual.

Intended use
The LAE 232 shore power unit is used to protect the on-board AC 230 V/50 Hz system by means of a 16 A RCBo (residual-current circuit breaker with overcurrent protection). An AC indicator light shows the connection to the shore-side AC mains. The 2 double-pole thermal circuit breakers (10 A) protect and switch up to 2 load circuits. The electrical connection is made via a terminal strip on the rear of the panel.
Connection and wiring diagram

In the diagram, all cables are specified as 2.5 mm². Each terminal group has the connections L, N and PE.
| Terminal | Function according to manual and diagram |
|---|---|
| 1 | Shore power input (Land AC IN), up to max. 3.6 kW (16 A); in the diagram, an MCB-2P of max. 16 A is connected upstream |
| 2 | Output via overcurrent circuit breaker F2 (10 A), on-board circuit 1 / Outlet 1 |
| 3 | Output via overcurrent circuit breaker F3 (10 A), on-board circuit 2 / Outlet 2 |
| 4 | Output via RCBo (RCD/MCB) 16 A, 30 mA, on-board circuit / Outlet |
The European standard EN ISO 13297 must be observed during installation.
Installation notes
- Work on low-voltage AC 230 V/50 Hz system components may only be carried out by qualified electricians.
- The supplied wire end ferrules must be used.
- Installation must ensure that the rear is protected against accidental contact. To do this, a non-combustible cover must be fitted, or access must only be possible with a tool.
- Make sure there is sufficient clearance to the rear panel or cover because of possible fire risk.
- The installation location must be dry and protected.
- The installation instructions are part of the component delivery. They must be kept in a safe place for later maintenance work and passed on to any subsequent owners.

Frequently asked questions
How many load circuits can the LAE 232 protect?
The LAE 232 protects and switches up to two load circuits. It has two double-pole thermal circuit breakers rated 10 A each. The input is protected by a 16 A, 30 mA RCBo (residual-current circuit breaker with overcurrent protection), and an AC indicator light shows the connection to the shore-side mains.
How must the rear of the LAE 232 be protected?
The rear must be protected against accidental contact. To do this, fit a non-combustible cover, or make sure access is only possible with a tool. The manual also requires sufficient clearance to the rear panel or cover because of possible fire risk. The installation location must be dry and protected.
Which cables and accessories do I need for the connection?
According to the wiring diagram, all cables are 2.5 mm². Connection is made via a terminal strip on the rear of the panel, and the supplied wire end ferrules must be used. The diagram shows an MCB-2P of max. 16 A upstream of the shore power input. Installation must comply with EN ISO 13297.
What is the power rating at the input of the LAE 232?
The input is designed for a shore power connection of up to 3.6 kW (16 A), and the main protection is a 16 A, 30 mA RCBo. Outputs 2 and 3 are protected by 10 A circuit breakers, output 4 by the RCBo. The dimensions are 105 × 210 × 100 mm (W × H × D).
