The ATD (Automatic Timer Disconnect) from Blue Sea Systems is a versatile disconnect relay that can protect connected loads in four different ways: by timer, by undervoltage detection, as an automatic charging relay (ACR), or as a simple solenoid switch. This allows the ATD to be adapted to a wide range of requirements in the on-board electrical system.
Advantages
- Timer: disconnects loads after an adjustable time of 15 minutes to 4 hours, as soon as the control signal drops out
- Undervoltage protection: automatically disconnects loads at adjustable undervoltage (11.0 V / 11.5 V / 12.0 V), even before the timer expires
- ACR operation: automatically combines two battery banks for shared charging via a single charging source and separates them during discharge
- Solenoid operation: connects or disconnects the circuit immediately via a 12V control signal, without time delay
- Test mode disconnects loads after 5 seconds for quick functional check of relay and timer
- Optional charge detection can replace the 12V control signal and saves wiring

When is a time and voltage-controlled disconnect relay like the ATD useful?
Always when loads need to be automatically protected from deep discharge – for example, after switching off the engine, during longer downtimes, or when there is an additional need for charge current distribution between two battery banks. Due to the four selectable operating modes, the ATD covers applications for which otherwise several separate components would be necessary.
