Wire ferrule
Kurz definiert
A metal sleeve crimped onto the end of a stranded wire so that it does not splay in a screw or spring terminal and keeps permanent contact.
In der Praxis
It is the alternative to tinning — with the difference that it does not flow under pressure, so the terminal stays tight. Size and crimping tool must match the cross-section.
For larger cross-sections and wherever a connection is bolted onto a stud, the ring terminal takes its place. Both serve the same purpose: a defined, permanent clamping point.
