High current protection
Protection of high-current consumers
Supply lines to the switchboard, anchor winch, and bow thruster, where immediate readiness for operation without time-consuming fuse replacement is crucial, are protected by hydraulic-magnetic or thermal-magnetic circuit breakers. These combine the main switch and main fuse and are mounted as close as possible to the batteries. The 8345 series circuit breakers offer a more cost-effective and space-saving solution than separate main switches and high-current fuses.
The use of circuit breakers instead of main switches with separate fuses offers the following advantages:
Space-saving installation as it only requires one component.
Simpler and faster installation as there is no additional cable connection between the switch and the fuse.
No fuse replacement required in case of a power failure.
The cost of the circuit breaker (series 8345) is only slightly higher than that of the main switch and high-current fuse.
