The Studer VT solar charge controller is an MPPT (Maximum Power Point Tracking) solar charge controller that optimizes the charging power of solar modules for 12, 24, or 48 V onboard batteries. The VT solar charge controller, distributed by Philippi, seamlessly extends Studer Xtender combi inverters with solar charging functionality and communicates via the Studer CAN bus – available in charging current classes VT 40, VT 65, and VT 80.
- MPPT tracking automatically increases the efficiency of the solar panels depending on solar radiation and temperature
- 4-stage charging characteristic with 8 predefined battery charging curves for all common battery systems ensures longer battery life
- Fully configurable system, controllable via Studer CAN bus and RCC-02/-03 remote control
- Low back current of less than 1 W in night mode additionally protects the battery
The Studer Innotec VT solar charge controller continuously adjusts the operating point of the connected solar modules to external conditions (tracking), thereby ensuring optimal utilization of available solar energy. In combination with a Studer Xtender combi inverter, the VT solar charge controller can significantly reduce the self-consumption of the overall system. Communication and configuration take place via the Studer CAN bus, allowing the Philippi VT solar charge controller to be seamlessly integrated into an existing Studer onboard network.
With IP 54 protection, the VT solar charge controller is also suitable for installation in humid environments on board yachts, as well as in motorhomes and off-road vehicles. The three sizes VT 40, VT 65, and VT 80 differ in maximum charging current and maximum connectable PV module power, allowing the appropriate variant to be chosen for different solar system sizes.

Compatibility
The VT solar charge controller is designed for operation in the Studer network and communicates via the CAN bus with Studer Xtender combi inverters (XTM / XTH series), the X-COM-CAN interface, and the RCC-02 and RCC-03 remote controls. Choose VT 40 for smaller solar systems, VT 65 for medium-sized systems, and VT 80 for larger systems with correspondingly higher PV module power.
Frequently Asked Questions
For which battery voltages is the VT solar charge controller suitable?
The VT solar charge controller is nominally configurable for 12 V, 24 V, and 48 V onboard batteries.
Which VT variant do I need?
This depends on the maximum PV module power of your solar system: VT 40 for up to 2500 W, VT 65 for up to 4000 W, and VT 80 for up to 5000 W (each at 48 V).
Can the VT solar charge controller be combined with an Xtender combi inverter?
Yes, the VT was specifically developed to extend Studer Xtender combi inverters with a solar charging function and communicates via the common CAN bus.
Is a remote control required?
No, the RCC-02/-03 remote controls are optional and serve for convenient display and configuration of the overall system.
