The Philippi LAU 216 Automatic Shore Power/Generator/Inverter Changeover Switch is an automatic AC changeover unit for 2 inputs, which switches between shore power and generator or between shore power and inverter, depending on the connection, designed for 230 V / 50 Hz and max. 16 A.
- Delayed, automatic switching protects against short circuits caused by phase shift and inductive load currents during source changes
- Checks the mains input voltage of each source and only connects when it meets the on-board requirements
- Expandable via P-BUS interface into the Philippi on-board network monitoring system
If a generator or inverter is to feed into the AC on-board network in addition to shore power, a changeover unit is required for safe separation and switching of the energy sources. The Philippi LAU 216 automatically takes on this task: It measures the mains input voltage of the respective source and only connects to the on-board network when it meets the requirements. This means generators are only connected once they are running stably.
When retrofitting, it must be noted that the outputs must be protected by RCBO (RCD/MCB) circuit breakers. For applications where this circuit breaker is already to be integrated, Philippi offers the LAU 216 F variant with RCBO 16 A / 30 mA.

Compatible with Philippi P-BUS monitoring via the ACE-T cable (Item No. 5 0411 1161). For higher currents, the identical models LAU 325/325 F (up to 25 A, 3rd input) and LAU 340/340 F (up to 40 A, 3rd input) are available.
Between which sources does the LAU 216 switch?
Automatically between shore power and generator or between shore power and inverter, depending on the connection of the 2 inputs.
What is the maximum power the LAU 216 can handle?
Max. 16 A, corresponding to 3.6 kW.
What is the difference between the LAU 216 and the LAU 216 F?
The LAU 216 F additionally has an integrated RCBO circuit breaker (16 A / 30 mA); the LAU 216 does not have this and therefore requires upstream RCBO circuit breakers at the outputs.
Can the LAU 216 be integrated into an on-board network monitoring system?
Yes, via the P-BUS interface with the ACE-T cable (Item No. 5 0411 1161).
If you have any questions about the design of your on-board network with multiple energy sources, we will be happy to advise you.
