The RCE charging current distributor from Studer, available from Philippi, distributes the charging current from a source such as an alternator, onboard charger, solar system or wind generator wear-free to 2 or 3 battery banks using MOS-FET technology, and electrically separates them as soon as charging ceases.

  • Very low voltage drop during charging (< 4 mΩ forward resistance) instead of the usual 0.7–1.3 V with classic isolation diodes
  • Simultaneous charging of all connected batteries; empty batteries are preferentially charged
  • Wear-free with no mechanical switching contacts, independent of battery size and type (GEL, acid, AGM, LiFePO4)
  • Can be used for almost all charging sources: alternator, onboard charger, solar system, wind generator

The Philippi RCE charging current distributor from Studer is the electronic further development of the conventional battery isolation diode. Instead of the battery-damaging and energy-wasting voltage drops of classic diodes, the RCE's MOS-FET technology ensures that all connected battery banks are supplied with the required charging voltage and the maximum available current – simultaneously and without mutual interference.

The RCE charging current distributor is suitable for standard and non-self-exciting alternators up to 180 A and works independently of the battery technology used, from classic lead-acid to LiFePO4 batteries. Two versions with M8 screw terminals are available for connection to two or three separate battery banks.

Yes, the RCE charging current distributor can be used independently of battery size and type, including GEL, acid, AGM and LiFePO4 batteries.

What is the difference between the RCE 180-2 and the RCE 180-3?

The RCE 180-2 distributes the charging current to two battery banks, the RCE 180-3 to three battery banks – both with a current carrying capacity of 180 A per output.
