The Balmar Belt Buddy (BBU) is the actual tensioning mechanism for alternator V-belt tension and provides a positive stop against belt slippage. As a universal design, the BBU fits existing adjustment arms, so you don't have to replace the entire belt tensioner system, but can specifically retrofit only the tensioning mechanism.

Do I need UAA, BB, or UBB directly?

If your alternator already has an adjustment arm and it functions correctly, the Belt Buddy (BBU) as a pure retrofit of the tensioning mechanism is perfectly sufficient. If, however, an adjustment arm is missing or damaged, you will also need the UAA – or you can opt for the pre-assembled complete UBB system.

Area of Application

The BBU is particularly suitable for retrofitting, for those who already have a functioning adjustment arm on their existing alternator mount and only want to remedy the annoying readjustment and slippage of the V-belt during tensioning.
