12V-120A alternator for Volvo engines

The Balmar 6-Series 120-amp 12-volt alternator is the most powerful version of the popular 6-Series for Volvo-Penta diesel engines with particularly high on-board power requirements. It replaces the original alternator at the typical single-foot engine mount and provides significantly more charging power for large house batteries, refrigerator, navigation, and comfort electronics on board. How much charging power does my Volvo-Penta electrical system really need?

Anyone who operates a refrigerator, windlass, navigation devices, chargers, and other consumers in parallel or has retrofitted a larger house battery bank will significantly benefit from the additional amp-hours of this 120A version compared to the 100A variant. The prerequisite is the appropriate single-foot/spindle mounting in Delco style, as installed on most Volvo-Penta engines.

Single or as a Set?

In the "single" variant, the alternator works with its standard internal Smart-Ready regulator - sufficient for many motor yachts with regular engine running times. The "set" supplements the alternator with the external ARS-5 multi-stage regulator and two temperature sensors for the alternator and battery, which automatically adapt the charging curve to the respective temperature. Recommended especially for large house batteries or if the engine runs irregularly - for example, when sailing.

Predestined for sailboats and motor yachts with Volvo-Penta diesel engines that have extended battery capacity and a demanding on-board electrical system. Especially when sailing, where the engine runs only sporadically, the high charging power ensures that the batteries are fully charged again in a short time.
