The Philippi Energy Management EM-Box V3 is a central distribution and control unit for the onboard electrical system of a single-engine yacht with up to 3 battery banks, combining high-current wiring, charging current distribution, and battery main switches in a single assembly for 24V onboard electrical systems.
- Minimizes complex high-current wiring around the engine and battery system
- Manages battery monitoring, charging current distribution, and deep discharge protection for all battery banks in one device
- Remotely controllable main switches with manual emergency operation ensure safety even in case of malfunction
- Immediate operation without configuration saves installation time on board
The Philippi EM-Box V3 handles the complete charging and energy management of a modern, single-engine yacht with up to 3 battery banks (starter, service, and bow batteries) and additional alternative charging sources such as solar, wind, and hydro generators. The DC connection of a combi-inverter is also already taken into account. By integrating 10 high-performance shunts, the alternator charging current distributor, 3 remotely controllable battery main switches, deep discharge protection, and a common ground bar in one housing, the number of potential error sources during installation is significantly reduced.
Separate positive and negative terminals increase safety, while the P-Bus interface connects the EM-Box directly to the PSM system monitor, enabling a clear DC energy balance and battery monitoring for all battery banks. According to the Philippi operating manual, consumers and charging lines are connected via 8 high-current connection bolts (M8) for cable cross-sections up to 70 mm², while additional charging inputs (e.g., for solar or wind generators) can be fused with up to 40 A per input and a maximum of 60 A in total. In an emergency, the service battery can also be used for an engine emergency start, and the main switches can be operated manually if required.
