The BLA charge equalizer is a battery equalization module for series-connected 12V lead-acid batteries in off-road and vehicle electrical systems. It automatically ensures charge equalization between the battery blocks as soon as voltage differences occur – during charging, discharging, or when idle.
- Prevents one battery block from being overcharged and the other insufficiently charged, thus avoiding premature failure
- Works bidirectionally and equalizes the charge regardless of where the weaker battery is located
- Draws its power directly from the batteries to be equalized – no separate supply cable needed
In series-connected batteries, differences in cell chemistry and temperature lead to charge imbalances that the charger itself cannot compensate for. The Philippi BLA charge equalizer detects voltage differences between the 12V battery blocks and automatically switches on gradually as soon as the difference exceeds 10 mV. One BLA equalizes a 24V block (2 x 12V); for higher voltage systems, several modules are connected in series – 2 for a 36V system, 3 for a 48V system.
